RGB – Global Game Jam 2014

Created in one and a half days as part of the Global Game Jam with a coursemate and a few other people who we had never met before. See team credits here.

The theme was “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are”. We decided to make a three player cooperative platforming game, and take the theme literally as players have their own colour, one red, one green and one blue, hence the name RGB, and the world for each player is different depending on who you are, with the main game mechanic being various coloured platforms throughout the level but each players only see the platforms of their colour.

The game is networked so you can play online with two friends (in fact, you have to have three people to play, although to try it you can open three tabs with the game open) so give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Note: This game requires the Unity Web Player to play. This is a free download which can be found here: https://unity3d.com/webplayer

My role in the team was creating the main game, from the basic 2D platforming elements (thankfully Unity 4.3 had just been released), to the key colour mechanic and the networked multiplayer. I have since added a start screen with a basic lobby and online leaderboards.
